Special Information: IRS opening Date for 1040 Electronic Filing

At the present time, the IRS is continuing to update its programming and processing systems for 2019.

In addition, the IRS continues to closely monitor potential legislation that could affect the 2019 tax season. The IRS anticipates that it will not be able to announce a filing season start date until later in January.

Patriots’ Day is Monday, April 15, 2019, and is a holiday in Maine and Massachusetts. Emancipation Day is a holiday in Washington DC and falls on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Taxpayers who live in Maine or Massachusetts have until Wednesday, April 17, 2019, to file their 2018 returns and pay any taxes due.
